Introducing VANYA-SOFIA and the Unfolding - a living, ever-changing, intimate, personal body of work. Experiencing and expressing life through my eyes.
The Unfolding is about seeing our individual path of growth as a natural process of revealing what’s already within. It is a path back to the core, honoring the interconnectedness of experiences, where lessons are revealed when ready, and growth is non-linear.
The Unfolding was born from experiences that brought me to my knees, whether through great pain, great joy, or everything in between. Over and over again. These are the moments where we touch the truth of who we are. These tender, raw moments are how we truly know life and our own place in it.
And that’s worth writing about.
So, I invite you to “my home,” where my thoughts, feelings, and energy reside. It is a space for creativity, depth, self-inquiry, learning, and storytelling…all in service of establishing a deeper contact with self.
Come often, stay as long as you like, and most importantly, I hope you enjoy being here.
I’m honored to have your attention!
You won’t find my traditional bio here. For that, feel free to check my LinkedIn and Website.
Instead, I prefer to give you a sense of what I care about, what I’m curious about, what I’m learning, what excites me, my expanding awareness, my process, and my honest truth, how life unfolds, and what I make of it. Right now, today!
Here are some tiny threads of things, woven into the fabric of my days:
I find tremendous pleasure in spacious mornings when I get to sip on my hot drink before I open my laptop and start the day.
I try to move my body daily. Right now, I focus on strength, mobility, gymnastics, and stretching…progressing towards the splits!
I loooove food- all of it. A good charcuterie spread, fluffy pastries, banana bread… I believe our relationship with food is crucial for our health. The mantra is no restrictions - everything is good for me, but quality and quantity are key! Your thoughts or inner conflict as you eat are more important and have more impact than what you eat.
I have so much appreciation for good, beautiful but useful interior design. Living spaces that feel like an exhale, like a sanctuary. Clean design but cozy, like humans live there, views, spaciousness, fireplaces, vibrant colors, carpets, textures, candles, kitchen islands, deep couches for cuddles, movie nights, and naps. Ohhh the naps…
After years of winters in Florida, I'm discovering how much I like living with the seasons. As I write this, I’m looking at the forest outside Boulder, Colorado, sitting by the fireplace, happily wintering. The mountains carry special energy, and being in nature feels like a deep exhale.
Nature is medicine. It offers many gifts: healing, balance, harmony, grounding, nervous system regulation, and mindfulness. Observing nature teaches us the laws of life: of impermanence, beauty, resilience, strength, ease, fierceness, and grace. The leaf doesn’t hold on to the tree; it falls without a fight. The grass grows without effort, in its own time when it’s ready.
I’ve become excited to develop and own more of my innate gifts and talents- singing, dancing, painting, cooking, and, of course, writing! I look forward to returning to embroidery and knitting…to my Bulgarian grandma’s courtesy!
I’m so inspired by dancing. Currently, I love pole, frame-up, and beautiful feminine movement. I can consume that type of content for hours…One of these days, when I find myself in one place for long enough, I’ll learn a choreo and shoot a video of it.
Deep dives into family constellations, systemic thinking, and childhood attachment trauma are the absolute foundational work that’s meaningfully changing my life. It has the potential to change yours, too! I’ll write more about that work in upcoming posts. Now, I’ll say I’m eternally grateful to the catalysts in my life who brought to the surface what must be seen and to the incredible teachers who entered my field to guide my deeper awakening.
The nervous system is everything. It literally limits or expands our experience. We are very much a product of it, and we can work to change it. A relaxed and regulated nervous system means more joy, more love, more peace, more creativity, more spirituality…We can start to sense more when we’re not constantly on the lookout for threats. The more we heal, the more we expand our container/capacity to hold more of what’s available to feel on the spectrum of emotions.
I’m fascinated by the mystical, unseen, magical, mythological. I hold deep reverence for the medicines that help us lift the veil to the spirit realms. And yet, just like therapy, we’re not supposed to be in it for too long, let alone all our life. Alan Watts puts it well: “If you get the message, hang up the phone. For psychedelics are simply instruments like microscopes, telescopes, and telephones. The biologist does not sit with his eye permanently glued to the microscope; he goes away and works on what he has seen.” And if you feel glued…then perhaps examine if the ladder’s leaning on the right wall.
I’ll be forever in awe of the way Christ entered my life. A few truly mind-blowing encounters with him still give me goosebumps. I’ve never been religious. I view religion and the church as institutions separate from the emanation of Christ’s consciousness.
I pray. In the soft glow of candlelight beside my bed at night, I welcome all my resources, ancestors, and angels. I deepen my relationship with Christ and my divine nature.
A classic Capricorn- steady, driven, and a touch stubborn, anchored by the grace and elegance of a Libra rising and the emotional depth of a Cancer moon. I’m both practical and intuitive, nurturing and relentless, navigating inner contradictions, walking the line between the physical and spiritual. (though, it’s all one)
Love? Yes- romantic, deep, “Outlander” kind of love. If it’s not blood of my blood and bone of my bone, together through timelines and beyond, I don’t want it!
Motherhood inspires me. I’m curious about that powerful initiation, home-birthing, and all the sacred knowledge available for women who are choosing that path with intention and awareness of how profound the gift of life is.
I’ve always loved travel. I moved to the US when I was 20 and have lived in many places since. I want to see this entire magnificent world, and I want to write about it!
So much has changed in my life in the last few years- even my name. And I can’t wait to tell you about it. As I said earlier, this is my home, so hang around and read what’s coming in the following posts.
I’ll be here, in the unfolding, enjoying the view, writing my heart out, and sipping hot chai!
Thank you for reading. You’re welcome to leave me a gift- a word from your heart, a reflection, a comment, share this with others…, or anything else to let me know you’ve stopped by and perhaps read the whole thing! This is just the beginning. I envision The Unfolding growing into a space where we connect beyond words through private conversations, special content, and more intimate gatherings. But for now, I’m simply grateful you’re here at the start.
It's amazing how prismatically aligned we are. So excited for this forum for your feminine expression, woman!
Great read — just like a river, unstoppable and ever-flowing!
